About the peaceful image of Rituals
When you hear Rituals, you spontaneously think of a cozy evening with some candlelight while enjoying the dreamiest perfume scents. Rituals was founded in 2000 by Raymond Cloosterman. Cloosterman had an idea in mind for a new company: it had to become a brand that unites the pillars of "at home" and "personal care products”. Cloosterman sees a home as an extension of someone’s personality. In addition, the brand had to satisfy the global need for luxurious yet affordable products.
That turned out pretty well, don’t you think? Today, Rituals is a luxurious yet affordable beauty brand where the influence and spirituality of Eastern philosophies play an important role in the creation of new product lines. These product lines are sold in stores with a sophisticated and elegant look and make it a complete customer experience.
Enjoying life to the fullest
Rituals prefers not to talk about a core target group. The company's products and services should appeal to both women and men and people of all ages who want to enjoy life to the fullest. That’s exactly why we decided to create a swimwear line.
The target market for Rituals is very diverse. At Rituals, everyone will find what they are looking for, whether they’re young or old.
When we took a closer look at the collection of Rituals, one thing stood out right away. The collection is very broad. They focus on skincare, make-up, cosmetics, home coziness, but they also have their own clothing line. They have pyjamas, a yoga range, clothes to feel comfortable at home and much more. There is only one thing missing: a swimwear line. What better way to expand their collection than anything you’ll need to unwind for a day at the beach?!
Rituals is known for its relaxing, Asian-inspired corporate identity. We reflected this in the design for the swimwear collection. Our design is inspired by Rituals’ sunscreen products. The mint green color is repeated in the garments and is therefore easily recognizable.
We provided both swim shorts and bathing suits because they target both women and men. We wanted to appeal to both audiences with our swimwear collection. In addition, we included a matching towel with the Rituals logo subtly embroidered on it. What could be now more enjoyable than a relaxing moment at the pool in swimwear that makes you feel both stylish and comfortable?
If you take a quick glance at Rituals' other clothing, you'll find that the logo isn't prominently displayed. We have taken this into account in our design. On the swim shorts, you can see a very soft Rituals hallmark returning, as well as on the towel, the logo has been subtly added.
Clean, conscious & caring
Rituals attaches great importance to our planet. Not only do they strive for high-quality products, they also set high standards for their production processes. From the natural hand & lip care collection and eco-friendly refills to supporting women in Mumbai, the innovation team at Rituals works non-stop to create a more sustainable world.
They develop and evaluate their products based on three pillars: clean, conscious and caring. This means that all Rituals products contain clean ingredients, are dermatologically tested, and are consciously selected and developed to inspire our customers to live mindfully.
We at Merchandise Essentials also place a lot of importance on our planet. We strive for sustainable production processes that benefit both people and planet. We only manufacture in Europe so that we can keep a close eye on our production processes. Next to that, all our products are produced with sustainable materials and we are constantly looking for more durable and ecological production methods. Wouldn’t that be a great collaboration?

When it comes to packaging, Rituals applies the "reduce, reuse and recycle" principle and is constantly looking for sustainable improvements. They carefully design their packaging and choose the right materials for it. For example, using 100% recyclable packaging and reducing the amount of packing materials.

Who would be better than us at Merchandise Essentials? We also attach great importance to people and our planet. We work exclusively with certified materials, this ranges from organic cotton to recycled polyester.
Because of our extensive experience in the fashion industry, we know exactly which materials & suppliers to choose. Next to that, we have a lot of spare materials that can’t be used for clothing anymore. We make pillows for dogs with these materials that we donate to the animal shelter. That way the animals can stay there comfortably.
